Our adventures did not slow down. We took the kids CAMPING!
This is the tunnel we drove through to get to first landing state park near Virginia Beach. This tunnel went below sea level, the kids did not believe me when I told them we were under the ocean.
This was our awesome camping spot. It was lovely. However it is immediately adjacent to the largest military base in the U.S. They did training exercises at night. Once it got dark the air was filled with the sounds of helicopters flying low, machine gun fire, and explosions.
We had hot dogs for dinner. It was awesome.
After dinner we went to the beach and watched the sun set. The kids went swimming on accident.
upon our return to camp we had S'MORES! YUM YUM!
The next day we went for a hike/walk on the park's trails. The area is a mix between sand dunes and swamp. I liked the swamp.
The kids enjoyed searching for mushrooms. They were everywhere. Many different sizes, shapes, and colors. I have never seen so many mushrooms in one place. This is just one example
Dis one is soooo tute! said the little girl.
Then she told me not to take her picture!
Tab and I went on a walk together on the beach and saw this awesome sunset. We also found some seashells.
Near the end of our walk we ran into this group. This is James and "crew". The kids think the dad is embarrassing, so he asked me to take their picture and put them on the internet. What a cool dad. Here's to you James.
The camping went well. The kids slept a little and so did the adults. We got to make some awesome camp food and use our camping stuff. Tab always loves camping. I had no idea in virginia you could camp on the beach. Did you know coleman fuel is a regulated substance? It took us 3 stores and about an hour to find some! Maybe that is why someone abandoned that stove!
